Speaker: Professor Ian Goldman
Advisor on Evaluation and Evidence Systems, CLEAR Anglophone Africa
Ian has worked for 40 years in 20 countries on issues of rural development, decentralization, sustainable livelihoods approaches, community-driven development, evidence-based policy-making and evaluation. From 2011 to 2018 he was the Head of Evaluation and Research and later Deputy Director General in South Africa’s Department of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (DPME). Ian has been a Commissioner of 3ie since 2012 and was one of the founders of the Twende Mbele partnership of African governments on M&E. In July 2018 he joined CLEAR Anglophone Africa as an Advisor on evaluation and evidence systems. Ian is an Adjunct Professor at the Nelson Mandela School of Public Governance at the University of Cape Town and a Visiting Professor at the University of Reading in the UK.
