Webinar: Unintended Consequences and Trade-offs: Evaluating in the Nexus of Environment, Climate and Development


On 4 December 2019, 9.00 to 10.30am EST, UNICEF and EVALSDGs, in partnership with GEF, Green Climate Fund, IEO, and Earth-Eval will organize a webinar on Unintended Consequences and Trade-offs: Evaluating in the Nexus of Environment, Climate and Development.

  • Speakers: Jyotsna Puri (Green Climate Fund) and Juha Ilari Uitto (Global Environment Facility)

Dr Jyotsna (Jo) Puri is the Head of GCF’s Independent Evaluation Unit. She has 23 years’ experience in evaluating research in agriculture, environment, health and infrastructure related poverty alleviation. Jo has worked for the World Bank, UNDP, UNEP and the International Initiative of Impact Evaluation (3ie). She has published several books and written extensively. She is also Adjunct Associate Professor at the School of International and Public Affairs, Columbia University, USA and research fellow at the Centre for Evaluation and Development (C4ED).

Juha I. Uitto is Director of the Independent Evaluation Office (IEO) of the Global Environment Facility (GEF). He has worked as fulltime evaluator with UNDP and the GEF since 1999. In these capacities he has conducted and managed a large number of evaluations focusing on environment and development linkages. He spent the 1990s at the United Nations University (UNU) as coordinator of the university’s environment and sustainable development research and training programs. His books include Evaluating Climate Change Action for Sustainable Development and Evaluating Environment in International Development.

Evan Green is a developer, monitor and evaluator of international development projects and programmes and national, regional and international strategies, programmes and plans, as well as the vice-president and senior partner for Baastel.
